Wharf Hotels is a Hong Kong SAR of China’s heritage hotel management company, an Asian corporation recognising diverse cultures that celebrates The Spirit of Discovery. Thomas Salg leads the overall strategic direction and developments for Wharf Hotels’ portfolio of hotels with a focus on creating value to position the group for sustainable growth. He is also responsible for overall performance as well as investor and owner relations. Thomas Salg brings more than 25 years of valuable expertise in luxury hotels, resorts and convention hotels that spans eight countries and three continents. He joined Marco Polo Hotels in 2013.
Thomas Salg holds a Diploma in Natural Sciences and Hospitality from Bergius Hotelfach Schule in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Lucinda Chan’s key responsibilities include managing risk and investment strategies, alongside tracking the overall monetary health of the group. She leverages her extensive experience of over two decades in multinational environments to drive partnerships and business development efforts in support of the group’s strategies. She also leads the procurement, and innovation and technology functions.
An invaluable finance executive, Ms Chan is a Certified Public Accountant and member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute.
Alex Chiang has oversight of all Human Resources aspects to further the group’s talent development, employee engagement and inclusive culture. He also plays an integral role in strengthening learning and development, succession planning and talent acquisition. His career, spanning more than 26 years in Asia Pacific, includes senior positions in luxury hotel groups and in a pre-opening capacity.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Catering Management from Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, United Kingdom.
A leader with a strategic focus on establishing revenue streams for hotel operations, enhancing guest and service experiences, and a broad mandate overseeing group brand standards for the Rooms division; Restaurants, Bars and Events; and Technical Services. Jørgen Christensen has over 30 years of hospitality industry experience and previously held senior management positions with various luxury hotel brands in Asia Pacific, Europe and the United States.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality Management from Bournemouth University in the United Kingdom and IHTTI School of Hotel Management in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
As a visionary leader with deep expertise in sales and marketing, Holger Jakobs is charged with the group’s execution of commercial initiatives and strategies including revenue optimisation, global sales, digital marketing, loyalty, brand extension and communications.
His previous experience across China, Indonesia and Thailand were in luxury hotels and resorts and he is a Masters graduate from the University of Paderborn in Germany.

Engaged with local communities, all Wharf Hotels participate in charity organisations, volunteer programmes and proactively participate in activities organised by social enterprises, in order for guests and Associates to contribute to advancing local communities. Responsibility extends beyond guests and Associates to the destinations in which the hotels operate, and the hotels strive to integrate hotel operations into the life of the local community in a way that enriches all parties. Where available, locally produced organic products are sourced and all our restaurants pledge to be shark-free.

Launched by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) in 2002, the Caring Company Scheme aims to foster strategic partnerships between the business and social services sectors to promote good corporate citizenship, create a more inclusive society and put efforts towards developing a sustainable society.
Wharf Hotels won the award for “Manpower Developer” 2019-2020. Launched by The Employees Retraining Board (ERB) in 2009, the “ERB Manpower Developer Award Scheme” aims to recognise organisations which demonstrate outstanding achievements in manpower training and development.
Project WeCan is a business-in-community programme that Wharf Hotels collaborates within Hong Kong SAR of China, designed to offer care and opportunities for less-privileged students in Hong Kong. Project WeCan was established as an open platform for business sponsors to work closely with schools through financial commitment and/or volunteering support for the benefit of their students who lack support and resources. The Programme began in 2011 with eleven secondary schools. Currently, there are fifty-one schools matched with thirty-one corporate partners through Project WeCan.

We offer in-depth technical consultancy services from the design concept stage to the grand opening, innovative entertainment and dining solutions, superior brand standards along with a detailed critical path in the lead up to the opening.
A dedicated team assigned to your hotel will guide and support, assisting to develop the initial concept and launch campaign, in addition to providing ongoing assistance and advice for day-to-day operations. This will ensure maximum efficiency within the physical development and enhance the capability of the property to yield a superior return on investment. In joining our portfolio we will operate your property with all the commitment and passion of an owner.
During the design development and pre-opening phases of a hotel, Wharf Hotels provides in-depth technical consultancy services to the hotel owner. Early involvement ensures maximum efficiency within the physical building and enhances the property's ability to maximise revenues and yield a superior return on investment.
Wharf Hotels oversees the efficiency of the architecture and interior design; the mechanical and electrical systems; equipment procurement; compliance with fire and safety regulations; and monitors the design of water treatment, electrical, waste disposal, and other utility systems.
Wharf Hotels will review consultant proposals and design specifications from a construction cost and hotel operations point of view, making recommendations to ensure a hotel product of the highest quality.
A successful launch is important to a hotel's long-term success. Wharf Hotels’ experts guide the pre-opening team in the recruitment and training of hotel Associates and provide operating manuals, policies and procedures, and financial accounting systems necessary to establish an outstanding hotel operation.

Wharf Hotels’ marketing strategy segments the sources of business into Corporate, Leisure, and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions). It also targets geographically: local, national, and international travellers. Room reservations are made directly with the hotel through the industry recognised Global Distribution System (GDS), Wharf Hotels’ Centralised Reservations System, and the internet. Marketing effectiveness is achieved by using specific tactics to target each segment of the hotel's market mix.
